2 B Wired inc: Loved having a little gander stroll first thing Saturday morning in the calmness while most of Montreal was still sleeping and after such a long wait, the sun was beaming and the warmth of the sun on my skin was inspiring to explore this magnificent city in search of the views. This park was a great way to view the shores from away from the downtown corr while maintaining a close proximity to appreciate its character and architecture of the buildings along the water way.

Ayel Mei Rubia: This park is a wonderful place to be for various activities, for leisure walks, runs, biking, picnics or for when you just simply want to walk your dog. The trails are relaxing especially with the babbling sound of the flowing water close to the bistro, the rustling leaves swayed gently by the wind calms me down. It’s probably even better when the leaves and flowers finally blooms.Nature’s wildlife is also rich in this area, different kinds of birds are seen throughout, snails on branches of trees will bring awe to kids who like to feed their curiosity and adventurism. Some people are also fishing and some are just enjoying the peace on a boat.Picnic grounds are also great and there are designated areas for BBQ, there’s an area where you can put up a tent; plenty of garbage/recycling bins; parking space may be more challenging during the summer.Playground: The grassy areas is great playground for playing catch, frisbee, toss games, spikeball etc.Restrooms: There a toilet/washroom inside the welcome center, close to the parking.Dog-friendliness: There’s a poop bag station free of charge right by the entrance of the park, the trails are great for running with kids and dogs alike.Picnic area: Picnic tables are scattered around the area.

Guided by criteria which stipulated that it be central to Westmount, the location of the park was identified in 1892. Its inception was a small terrain originally earmarked for a Corporation Yard. Six years later, the purchase of additional land extended its boundaries from Sherbrooke Street to de Maisonneuve Boulevard (then Western Avenue), and from Melville Avenue to the back of the properties on Lansdowne Avenue. Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee brought the City an unexpected windfall, which allowed for the construction of Westmount’s first library, Victoria Hall, as well as a revamping of the park which, for the most part, was a largely wooded area.
In 1912, M.J. Howard Manning undertook the landscaping for the City. The park was laid out in the spirit of Frederick Law Olmsted – landscape architect for Mont Royal Park and New York’s Central Park – following the natural streams, ravines and wooded areas on the site. A more formal arrangement of the foot paths, fountains, ponds and borders was made in the twenties, which the present day scheme resembles closely.
Today, its 26 acres contain a wading pool, extensive playground, beautiful floral plantings, three baseball diamonds, a playing field, and clay and hard-surface tennis courts.
A serpentine waterway flows gently beneath aged willows and past shady benches.

Jean-François N.: Of all the nature parks in Montreal, that of Île Bizard is one of my favorites because of the variety of environments it shelters: shore of Lac des Deux-Montagnes, marshes, cedar forest, mature maple grove. Many species of birds can be observed there, but it will also interest fans of geology and paleontology since the island was a seabed 480 million years ago.

I'm surprised that there's little mud everywhere, usually it's like a swamp. It's a big park with baseball and soccer fields and many camps in the summer. New water fountains have been recently added and you can fill your bottle
