Dustin Scott: We planned for my spouse to attend the EC Language School in Montreal. Unfortunately, we could not, after multiple attempts, get Canada to approve the student visa. The school promised to refund the tuition and most of the fees if this happened and we received the refund as promised. I am a teacher who is really passionate about studying languages, so for me the approach taken by the school would be very important and this was definitive for my positive analysis. In addition to having great facilities, what defines the school are the professionals who work there. The teachers are very well prepared and, in addition to grammatical studies, they approach a living language with a focus on interaction and the objective of preparing students for an independent life in the world of this second language. As highlighted on the first day of class by the Director of Studies, "it's not just about gathering knowledge, but about how you put that knowledge into activity in the use of language". Another very important aspect, especially for people who are on their first foray into immersion in another country, is the school's reception. At the same time that you are challenged to 'get by' on your own, the entire team is always available to help and guide you, in a very welcoming and attentive way, which makes a big difference if you are Brazilian. The school always proposes collective activities, providing moments where students meet and interact. The way he structured whole course is commendable. He is very patient with your doubts. His session is like a dopamine for me, I used to wait for every session eagerly. I did not get the progress expected. Karen Bishop: Just fabulous. Took the thrice weekly zoom classes with 8 other students and our teacher, Thomas Faudon, was just so very excellent. There are aways one or two students who are reticent to express themselves; Thomas got them involved and encouraged them to see themselves as French speakers. If there were a second level class, I would immediately sign up for it.

This allowed me to have a better understanding of the language in order to put together and speak more clearly and confidently, rather than just “read and repeat” phrases.As someone who is hard of hearing, I would emphasize how accommodating and accepting the class environment was. Even while our classes were online due to COVID, Thomas was very accommodating and provided verbal and visual means so that it was easy to keep up and follow along in the class. No matter what stage in your learning you’re at, Thomas does a great job at lifting people up with light humour and encouragement.There’s no escaping the hard work if you want to learn French , but Thomas sure helped make the process lot more fun and engaging!!!
Natsuko Nakamura: I think I was the oldest student he ever had. He treated me with respect with jokes here and there during the class. The class was very interactive and the homework assignments enforced what I learned that day. Thomas being a native French, he even taught us the difference between French and Canadian French, which was very helpful for me for many practical reasons. I wish there would be another level of his course I can attend.

The classes are structured in a way that gives a lot of time to speaking as well as learning grammar and vocabulary… There is a nice continuity between classes so what you learn in one class, you practice in the next… I got some very good tips for how to continue my French practice outside of the class and some good tips for how to accelerate my learning path… very supportive and clear in their communication and teaching…
In the past I've had difficulty getting on with more traditional language learning, so CLC was perfect for me as the style of teaching is very laid back, modern and informal… The teachers were all so enthusiastic and encouraging, and the atmosphere in the school is ridiculously welcoming and relaxed…
I was used to the more traditional teaching methods common in Europe and was delighted by the conversation and interaction based curriculum at CLC… It was a confidence boosting and liberating experience...
The 45min format of classes was great for keeping my attention and the change of teachers for each class means you don’t get used to one accent…

At first, I felt thrown into the deep end because my French is still at the very beginning level. However, CLC's teachers are supportive, patient and kind, and the language learning approach is very communicative.
The school is run very professionally and all interactions with them were smooth and easy. The teachers are committed and knowledgeable - not just about the languages they teach, but about how to teach and learn languages. Can't recommend them highly enough!

Laura Hoyos: speaker. School is always clean and the class is practical and guided, with a fresh teaching perspective far away from only filling a book. You can find a cafeteria that sells some products, some fridges were you can store your meals, coffee machines, microwaves and so on. I go to 6pm classes as I work on a full time job and have not many options. I can say I enjoy and wait anxiously to go to class and learn. Thank you so very much!

Teodor Sauca: As an alumni from a long time ago, the school is good. Almost everyone from my graduating year still keeps in touch with each other somehow. Most of us did very well in CEGEP, and even better in uni. Some are doing med now, some have lavish tech jobs at FAANG or prestigious start ups, etc. The school isn't perfect, but no school is. But imo it helped develop a drive to do well. The family talk could be a bit obnoxious, sure, but the teachers really did care for your success. And a lot of them are extremely knowledgeable. I still say hi to any teacher I had whenever I see them. Genuinely wouldn't trade this experience for the world.

Terrance Mockler: Attended late 60's and early 70's. It looks like it has modernized quite a bit since then. Such as being co-ed. When I was there some senior teachers still wore robes on occasion. They used corporal punishment too. Certainly better than the public school alternatives back then. You get what you pay for. I have a master's degree from Harvard University and am close to retiring from a teaching career in South Florida..

Rick Sala: My three sons graduated from St Georges. several years ago and I can not adequately express my gratitude to the school and staff for the efforts guidance and respect they showed my boys. While my boys were attending St G I met a Marianopolis College teacher and he described the St G students as standing out in his class by their questions and comments which were thoughtful and insightful.. He said the St G students were not the best at memorizing material but they sure could think.

Lonneke Bank: The Priory School is the most lovely elementary school you can think of. Not only do they offer a very strong curriculum, their motto is 'Happy Children Learn Best" and they practice what they preach: the school and their fantastic faculty and staff offer the students such a loving and caring environment - I truly believe it is why my kids are so happy to go to school every day and develop so well. My oldest graduated last year from the school and could pick any highschool; they are all very happy to have Priory students. Another thing I like a lot about this school is the parent community being so warm and welcoming as well as being very diverse.

Amber Trent: We moved from BC to Quebec for two years and we truly felt like we hit the jackpot with The Priory. From the moment we started at the school, we were immersed in the community of the caring teachers, staff and amazing families. You get the sense of being a part of a big family, which is so unique. Our sons started in Grade 3 and Kindergarten and thankfully had an incredible amount of support, especially with the introduction to French and learning in general. The strong values and sense of pride and respect that the students learn on a daily basis will carry with them. Now that we are back home in BC, we are still talking about the Priory and our amazing experience and the friendships we made.

Laavy Adam: Really good pacing and hours. Holistic in that there is sufficient focus on phonetics which are often neglected in other language courses. There's an exam each Friday which forces you to be prepared. Overall great program.
