Steve Castellano: One of my favourite music stores in Canada. They no longer have a physical location in my city but I still shop with them regularly online. I recently bought an "open box" pair of studio headphones that arrived without the mini-to-quarter inch adaptor. I sent them an email and they replied immediately, and the part was in my mailbox the next day. Great selection, excellent service.

Kib O.o: It's on the fifth floor of the apartment address, even if there are no signs at first to direct you.I went in a few weeks back to get my strings repaired. Was finished within an hour, but before I left, he mentioned bridge was too high and that it might be harder to play chords. As I was a beginner trying to learn, playing chords is already hard, so I didn't want it to be any harder.So, I asked if he could do the bridge lowering today. He agreed, and he finished it within the hour. He said that it usually take 3-4 weeks before I could pick it up, but since he had no other guitars to fix, he finished it within an hour, and didn't even charge me for the "rush" fee.Very professional, friendly and reasonable. Would go again for any and all my guitar needs!

jawad itani: RAC is very serious about the music/recording industry. They got about 4 well equipped studios, but even better their instructors are much more valuable than their studios, they give you the tools, knowledge and share their experiences with you to really help advance yourself. No one at the end of the day is going to make you skilled. Its all experience, but its very nice to be in an environment where they provide with the opportunity to get experience and the tools to become skilled. RAC provides the following, its worth eavesdropping in.

I'm so used to just ordering stuff online I had forgotten that customer service is not dead and that for something like purchasing headphones it is probably best suited to be done in person!Big shout out to Jack for all of his help in trying to repair my old set and helping me pick out some new ones. They were not pushy at all in trying to make a sale and were very informative and honest about the products shown. Everyone's ears are different and we don't all hear things to same, he encouraged me to try out some products myself and decide whether I liked them or not. Reinforcing even more the idea that some products are best purchased in person so you can actually experience the product before you buy it! What I think sounds good someone else might hate and you can't tell unless you try them first.I ended up getting a new pair of Focal Elegia which I'm very happy with. It ended up being slightly outside my initial price range but with the sale price offered I felt it was worth the bit extra. Jack showed me quite a few sets that were within the same cost range as my old DT880 Pros before going outside that range and didn't just push the most expensive thing they had on me right out of the gate.Heck online shopping and do yourself a favour when it comes to buying certain products and take the time to go in person! You'll likely get a better deal overall and end up with a purchase that is better suited to your wants and needs.

Paulo Unia: As an audio beginner, I had a fantastic experience at Layton. I casually showed up during an afternoon and was kindly welcomed by Frank. I asked him a few questions about planar headphones and inquired about trying some headphones. As I learnt, they prefer if customers call in advance and make an appointment, but Frank had the time, so we discussed a bit, picked two headphones and a USB-C DAC, and went to one of the listening rooms. Frank gave me loads of information, never pressuring me to buy. We got a 2nd DAC for me to try after I had decided that the headphones I wanted were the Audeze LCD2-C. After some back & forth, I chose a DAC, asked Frank for a few other accessories and made my first big audio purchase. When getting Frank's advice, I felt like I was talking to a friend's uncle who had known me for 10 years, given the care he took to share his knowledge. After I had chosen the headphones, we even had a great conversation about espresso machines and mechanical watches before I left the store.After spending some time with the new headphones and DAC at home, I realized I had chosen the right headphones but the wrong DAC! So the next day, I returned to the store, where Frank exchanged the one I originally bought for the one I wanted.Thanks to Frank and the whole crew at Layton Audio for making me feel welcome as a beginner and introducing me to the world of hi-fi, as it can often be intimidating to step into a new hobby where technical words and acronyms are thrown around like everyone was born knowing them.

Peedee Pop: A must-visit divine temple to find rare pieces.Nostalgia is a hard drug 😂 However, I miss the crooked stairs that led to the second floor!!! Mostly English-speaking place, but the welcoming staff will never make you feel bad if you are French-speaking! I've been going to the place since the 80s! Incredible finds on CD, vinyl or DVD 📀 Long live Cheap Thrills!! But you have to go there often, because the influx of customers means that the stock is moving at high speed!!!
