Laurence Potvin: Ballet Montreal is a great ballet school but also a great dance school. The teachers are very qualified and passionate. The artistic director of that school is probably the best teacher I’ve ever met in all my years of dancing. She cares like nobody would. She will make sure that everybody have the same opportunities and get to dance to the best of their habilities. If you tell her that you have a dream, she will make sure to honour it. She will never hold a grudge against her students, even on the harder days. She always shows up her for her students and tries to find ways to make them achieve what they are capable of. She will always tell you the truth so you can improve. At the end of the day, she doesn’t do it for herself but for all her students, to make sure they are proud of themselves. Every year she kills herself putting on a real ballet show from the classical repertoire. Having the chance to be part of those shows is something that I will carry and cherish my entire life because it teaches you so much more than just dance. Nobody trully sees what has to be done behind the scene to put on those kind of shows. Those shows could be compared to profesionnal shows. Every year she does a different one. That means different costumes, different sets, different lighting, different cast, different choreographies… And every year she does it. She does it so her students can be stimulated and experience the stage so they are ready for the professional world. She arrives at the studio early in the morning and will stay late at night to make sure everything that has to be ready is. She doesn’t count her hours and she will make sure every details is covered so it is as perfect as it can be. It is easy to point out what is not working and complain about things. However, with the show coming up, I think it’s very important to appreciate and be grateful for all the work, effort and passion that Paula does for her school and her students.

I came back to this school after the very top professional schools in Canada, because I did not feel the same level of passion and care towards ballet from any other place than this school, hence why I believe this school is what is best for me and anyone aspiring to make it far in this wonderful art.

Peony Blossom: My 10 year old daughter Valentina is a student of Mrs. Sandra Castro- Mühlbauer and her husband Mr. Diego Castro founders of the Mont Royal Ballet Academy dedicated to the formation of professional dancers. The ballet instruction follows the renowned Russian “Vaganova” technique and is called the “Elite” program at the Academy and consists of several years of rigourous training. Ali Lavasani: Professional school of dance with 40 years of experience and skilled trainers, one of the best choices in Montreal. They have at least two performances per year, an excellent opportunity for kids to perform and motivate.
Andria Riti: Been with Ballet Ouest family for years. Very professional ballet school with qualified and caring instructors. Management is thoughtful and organized. The school and company put on incredible self-directed performances and the costume designer is super talented.

Deborah Herman: This is the best ballet school for anyone with a passion for ballet and who wants to develop their technique. I've studied at a few schools and worked with several teachers in the Vaganova method but she's the best in my opinion. I've never had better technique and can do things I'd never dreamed of doing even in my 20's. Her attention to detail, her ability to see everything your doing, her pointe classes, bar and center have strengthened me and given me the confidence and joy to dance. Her classes are fun, challenging and I love that she pushes you to your limit. I've also enjoyed participating in the performances i.e. Nutcracker, Don Quichotte which really give you an experience of what it's like to do a professional production.
Chloé O: Finding a good ballet school is not easy. I tried several classes in Montreal before finding the Sona Vartanian Ballet Academy and each time there was something wrong: either I found that I wasn't making particular progress, or the exercises were developing swollen and unsightly muscles, or the atmosphere between the students was not good...Finally, after being disgusted with ballet for 2 years, I found Madame Vartanian's school by chance and I must say that I hope to stay there as long as possible. Not only is the atmosphere positive and it is a real pleasure to come to classes every week, but above all I was surprised to see how much I was able to progress in a short time. Ms. Vartanian, as a professional dancer, has the necessary experience to give us appropriate advice. She knows what she's doing! The exercises change every month so as not to get bored while giving us time to progress and learn each exercise correctly. The Vaganova method that she teaches allows you to develop thin and stretched muscles rather than swollen ones as I had noticed in other courses. There are shows twice a year which allows you to familiarize yourself with the stage and dance classic ballets such as The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Paquita, Swan Lake etc. The costumes are very beautiful, sewn by hand.To summarize, ballet is a very complete sport, which allows, among other things, to keep your body healthy, develop your memory and build your character! But a good teacher is the key and for that I think there is no better than Madame Vartanian!

khashayaaar: I cannot explain how much fun I have every time I go to UDS! Very friendly and kind instructors and they teach in a very fun way!One of things I love about UDS it that they offer a great variety of dances and not just Salsa and Bachata like most places.I really recommend this place!

Especially Konstantin, who is world-class and really took the time to adjust a dance that was beautiful and comfortable for us to do in a short time. K: Great improv school with the Thursday show included with class tuition. $15 well spent for a fun night out with a solid crowd.
Cool3: and the level is excellent: super motivated and very professional teacher, clean and spacious premises, top-notch staff. We were able to compare with other dance schools, and frankly, Variations is above the rest. Thanks to the whole team !

Sophie Crichton: My daughter of 4yrs has been attending the Saturday morning Ballet class at Variations since September. She absolutely loves it! Katherine is a fantastic teacher and offers a class filled with fun. Children learn the classic steps in an innovative and collaborative way with use of varied music and props. My daughter was a little shy to start but was made at ease instantly by Katherine's warm nature. The studio is bright and offers plenty of space to run around too!
