Mother of Perpetual Help Devotions, held every Tuesday at St. Patrick’s, are a continuation of the Devotions introduced by the Redemptorist Fathers at St. Ann’s Church in the 1920’s.

In the early years as attendance continued to grow, predictions were that with the end of the Depression and a return of prosperity, interest in them would wane. The popularity of the Devotions outlived the Depression and also outlived St. Ann’s Church, which was demolished in 1970. The weekly vigil was then transferred to Saint Patrick’s, were it has continued to accommodate the many Montréalers who still find the Devotions one of their favourite ways of paying tribute to Our Blessed Lady and calling on her for help and protection.

The Saint Patrick Basilica Choir under the direction of Associate Music Director John Guzik, D. Mus. M.Mus., ARCT, accompany the eleven o’clock celebration of the Eucharist from September until June. The Mass is sung in Latin every third Sunday of the month during that period. The choir is made up of volunteers with professional singers as section leads.
