Dustin Scott: We planned for my spouse to attend the EC Language School in Montreal. Unfortunately, we could not, after multiple attempts, get Canada to approve the student visa. The school promised to refund the tuition and most of the fees if this happened and we received the refund as promised. I am a teacher who is really passionate about studying languages, so for me the approach taken by the school would be very important and this was definitive for my positive analysis. In addition to having great facilities, what defines the school are the professionals who work there. The teachers are very well prepared and, in addition to grammatical studies, they approach a living language with a focus on interaction and the objective of preparing students for an independent life in the world of this second language. Laura Hoyos: speaker. School is always clean and the class is practical and guided, with a fresh teaching perspective far away from only filling a book. You can find a cafeteria that sells some products, some fridges were you can store your meals, coffee machines, microwaves and so on. I go to 6pm classes as I work on a full time job and have not many options. I can say I enjoy and wait anxiously to go to class and learn. Thank you so very much!

I had a great experience at CLC - smart teachers that gave encouraging attention to each student, very small class sizes, a friendly, energized, and professional environment, and virtually no stress… The structure felt very well thought out - the schedule of classes was ideal for staying alert and attentive… It's nothing like the language classes I took in high school…
The classes are oriented towards speaking, everyday situations, for you to feel confident in your everyday activities… groups are small and that is perfect for rapid advancement…
CLC makes learning French fun and I never thought I would have the confidence to speak and connect with people using a completely different language…

The classes are structured in a way that gives a lot of time to speaking as well as learning grammar and vocabulary… There is a nice continuity between classes so what you learn in one class, you practice in the next… I got some very good tips for how to continue my French practice outside of the class and some good tips for how to accelerate my learning path… very supportive and clear in their communication and teaching…
In the past I've had difficulty getting on with more traditional language learning, so CLC was perfect for me as the style of teaching is very laid back, modern and informal… The teachers were all so enthusiastic and encouraging, and the atmosphere in the school is ridiculously welcoming and relaxed…
I was used to the more traditional teaching methods common in Europe and was delighted by the conversation and interaction based curriculum at CLC… It was a confidence boosting and liberating experience...
The 45min format of classes was great for keeping my attention and the change of teachers for each class means you don’t get used to one accent…
I love that the classes are structured (one unit of composition, one unit of grammar, one unit of conversation) but not TOO structured… This makes the learning process a lot more fun, which is important for someone like me who doesn't thrive in a tedious classroom environment that's 100% grammar focused.
Our classes emphasized speaking, and I could see my own "shyness" about speaking gradually fade with time… Teachers were interested in our education and were always very sensitive as they developed our language skills… They took notes everyday on each student, which aided individual progress…
Both the methodology and its implementation at CLC are superior to anything I've ever experienced in college or at the Alliance Francaise… They maintain a strong emphasis on speaking and listening that diminishes bashfulness and brings out the best, friendliest, most lucid version of every student...

I was really impressed by 1) the overall teaching philosophy and 2) the infinite patience of their teachers. If you only learned a foreign language the old fashioned, classroom-based way and as a result hated the experience, CLC's methods and atmosphere will come as a (good) shock to you. At first, I felt thrown into the deep end because my French is still at the very beginning level. However, CLC's teachers are supportive, patient and kind, and the language learning approach is very communicative.
The school is run very professionally and all interactions with them were smooth and easy. The teachers are committed and knowledgeable - not just about the languages they teach, but about how to teach and learn languages. Can't recommend them highly enough!

The groups are small, which is really safe and great for learning. There is a great bond between parents and the school team and we feel listened to, respected and supported as parents. Mlc: . I've gotten to know people who send their children to this school despite having no German connection and I see them thrive and excel. They also have small class sizes which meant the teachers have more focus on each child. Not to mention, the school facilities are the best I've seen in Montreal!

Tatiana Kalashnikova: It's been almost two years since I did my CELTA at ILSC Montreal English Language School. I am a private tutor and use my skills every day I teach online. I teach both mini-groups and indivuduals. I've become very comfortable with breakout-rooms, using only digital teaching materials, and managing my classroom.I had a great experience doing CELTA, and I am a bit nostalgic as I don't have colleagues to talk about teaching ESL as I would if I worked in a regular school. I would gladly participate in more workshops and "reunions" as well as go for another traning session.
