Westcott Books: what do users think?

Anne-Julie: Superb used bookstore. A fabulous mess for reading enthusiasts. Cash only.

Yoana Stoeva: This is my favorite book store in the entirety of Montreal. It has all the books you'll need and the owner is so sweet and helpful. I always find books that I wasn't searching for but needed, and they are always at the lowest prices that I could ever find them. I could not recommend this bookstore enough.

Rob Birchall: Great spot, owner was negotiable on some of the prices. Got 4 good books for $20

E N: Very cute store. It's small, but you can find really great books of all kinds. It's a bit of a hole in the wall, so can be easy to miss if you're not on the lookout. The prices are on the inside of the book on the first page. They only take cash, but it's really worth it since the prices are very low. I got 5 books for 40$.

Chiara Byrne: Wonderful place!

Achu: One of the last true great used books stores in the city. The vibe is perfect to find something unexpected, what a treat it is to discover that Terry is still in the book business!

glen dolhan: Amazing book store. Rare books keep looking in the piles. You Will be surprised

Jing Jin: Just love this place. This is the only kind of secondhand book store I truly enjoy. It is magical and full of surprises. Remember going there often when it was on st laurent Now finding it moved to my neighbourhood, the shop owner is still alive and well, really happy to see that.

Emma Nebelung: Great second hand book store, loaded with gems. It's cash only, so make sure to bring some cash when you come here. The Mister that works there is very amiable, and the price is really decent.

Vadisio Janadar: Great store. But you need cash.

Inna Hurley: Great selection of books at fair prices.

Bouquinerie Du Plateau (La): what do users think?

Doum: Update 2021, phew! I wasn't supposed to come here when I was in Montreal... and I certainly didn't regret this extra stop! WOOOOOOOW! Shop and very lively street, a pleasure for the eyes for all those who worship books. I didn't find what I was looking for, but I was charmed by my visit.Update 2024, I didn't come to the area to read but the temptations were soooooo strong! The exterior mural often appeared on my internet. And now I can check this line off my bucket list, I saw it in real life!

Jeannette Cisternas: Excellent place, great variety of books at a very good price. Everything very organized. Pleasant atmosphere. I loved.

laurent tordjman: Very large selection of very well classified used books.

Thomas Chapais-Roy: Excellent service and very nice selection!

Ángel Zaldívar: The best selection of books, CDs, films, it's superb!

Vraiment super.

Pascal Bolduc: I really like this place. I always find something interesting to buy. I like the selection of classical music records and of course the large selection of second-hand books, especially the classics. Very fair prices.

S Genereux: There is a lot of choice of books of all genres, but it is quite expensive compared to other places of the genre. It should also be noted that all their items are in impeccable condition and that it is possible to find books that are difficult to obtain. The music playing is good!

Morgan Homo: Very nice bookstore with very nice choices...

Chrys. DD: Affordable books, attentive and very kind staff

Helen Chambers: Really lovely little bookstore. The kind that you can spend ages in, even though it's small, because it's so well curated and there are lots of written recommendations and collections of books on the tables.Loved stopping in here and it's definitely worth a visit!

Eleuthera Diconca-Lippert: I love this place! I usually buy my books used, but any time I get them new, Argo is my go to. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and they have an online database where you can order in advance and pick up in store. Highly recommend!

Annyra Ly: Friendly staff and has a nice varieties of books there absolutely enjoy going there with some friends !!💕

sage green: The employee working at the shop was really helpful and friendly! My kids loved the children's section. There's a good variety of chapter books for younger kids and I had no problem finding some great books for my 9 year old. I'm really only a fan of science fiction and in that section they had many books by women and marginalized people.I really appreciated the mask policy which remains in place in 2024. More shops should take this stand. All in all my new favourite bookstore! I can't wait to come back.

Reggie Bourn: Wonderful little bookshop with great selection and browseability!

Michael Cunningham: Argo is amazing. Their online store is super easy to find and get books from. Their staff provide an excellent service and they keep you updated on the status of your order. I would easily recommend them to anyone! Thank you!

Erlien - Bunda PZ: Great

Macha Lopez: A wonderful, queer-friendly and covid-informed bookstore with nice community events. Thanks to the staff for being so friendly!

Stéphane M.: Nice little neighborhood bookstore. Affable owners. Used books everywhere, everywhere, everywhere. However, I must admit, every time I asked them if they had this or that book in store, the answer was negative. So before you travel, I suggest you contact people. This can save you unnecessary travel. Also take a look at the establishment's unusual opening hours. Otherwise, if you are in the area, I recommend going for a quick tour.

Yann L'Écuyer: A little small, but lots of stuff inside. very interesting

Catherine Landry: Quick response, impeccable service!THANKS

Gate Mifi: Happiness is there...just like in a candy store.

Alain Cormier: Beautiful rare books

Christophe Gaudreau: Lots of choice, in several categories, especially in esotericism and religion.

Mmjb Savard: Small, friendly and relaxing place. Here you will find used books, new books, comics, puzzles, etc. Prices are based on the rarity and condition of the items. I appreciated the tranquility of the place and also the advice of the owners. Don’t forget to bring a sturdy bag for your purchases.

Matt: Great but limited selection.

mary boults: I love books; I love to read. I like to linger in this store, no rush and peruse the shelves; this makes me very happy, not to be rushed. The staff at Paragraphe always strive to get for me the book that I want to read and I so appreciate their knowledge, their efforts, and their efficiency!

Jon Yazer: Terrific bookstore, well stocked, many English titles, and the best customer service. An excellent local alternative to Indigo.

David Astrof: This book shop is a sweet established Montreal Enterprise. It is as good as many of the bigger stores and better than most. I've enjoyed coming here for a long time. I don't usually give a review for any place that I wouldn't give five stars to. In this case, my four-star review has to do with something that most might consider insignificant. With the fact that Amazon has taken over as the biggest book distributor in the world, it seems odd that a small independent bookstore would not compete on a relatively inconsequential matter - offering a bag of some sort with which to carry one's purchases out onto the street, especially when the weather is inclement. The cost of the books that I bought was significantly more than I would have paid had I chosen to order online and those books would have come well packaged. I suspect that many people will still enjoy browsing in book shops like I do but, when they find something that they'd like to own, they may just take note of the book and order through Amazon. If I had planned to come to the bookstore, I would have brought a bag for my purchases. This was an impromptu visit. So, if I hadn't been miffed at not being offered a bag, this review would definitely have been five stars. Visit the store and bring your own bag.

Bande Dessinée Montréal Débédé: what do users think?

François: The store is great for second-hand comics but it could do with being tidier. It’s a mess and that’s a shame

Brendan Timmins: Awesome store with a massive selection of used and new bandes dessinées! Could easily spend a good while in there perusing all the shelves. Mostly french but some english selection as well.

Alain Dubreuil: I have known this store for over 25 years and have not been there since the change of ownership. The store is great and the owner is super friendly and clearly a connoisseur of collectible comics, especially old editions of Tintin. It is therefore not necessary to go to Brussels or Paris and the experience is much more pleasant than with sellers on the usual online sales site. I highly recommend and I will definitely return.

Jean-Philippe C.: Comic book lovers!

Nadia Paradis: Connoisseurs! So nice to talk comics and have goodprice. A fabulous place!

Olrik Mortimer: I've been going there for ages. One of the beautiful comic bookstores in Quebec. Unavoidable!

Jean-Dominic Leduc: Mythical Montreal place where treasures pile up to the ceiling. Unmissable destination.

MARIE-CLAUDE LAVIGNE: A real Ali Baba’s Cave!My father and my mother went back to their childhood in front of the classics of their childhood!Prices are affordable! They also have an Anglo collection!

Greg Sharzer: My favourite bande desinee shop in Montreal, new or used. Mostly in French so it’s great for French learners as well. Huge selection organized by publisher, and the friendly owners will help you find what you want or suggest something, or leave you alone if you just want to browse. It’s also quite reasonably priced given the rarity of a lot of the items.

A. A.: Good french selection. Nice cozy place. Good prices. Was nice to shop there.

Émile Gauthier: I have been going to this store since I was 6 years old and I, who am quite young, am a fan of comics so it is possible that I will stay buried for a long time in all the Tintins, the Spirou, the Lucky Lukes, the Astérixes and of course the Gastons. In short, it's not just a normal bookstore but an Ali Baba's Cave filled with rarities and comics for all tastes. Honestly, I give a big10/10 at this bookstore.

Marc LAJEUNESSE: I always find something there that I wasn't expecting. I went there at 18 and I still go there at 51

Marianne L: Beautiful and affordable discoveries! The owner is super cool too

Ramin Eshraghi-Yazdi (Nur Films): Amazingly curated and the staff are lovely.

Lilia Alzial: Gorgeous ! It feels like you’re entering an art gallery, very cozy! The owners are really great people! And the employees are very caring!

Magi Bou: Magnificent place reminiscent of the human-scale bookstores in the trendy neighborhoods of New York! Librairie De Stiil is St-Marks bookstore run by a nice couple who know literature. Two excellent references!

Trevor Nicholson: The most unique and interesting selection I've seen in any bookstore in Montreal. It's clear that the owner is truly passionate about books.

Shiloh Williams: An incredible selection of both English books and books in translation!

Karen Steinke: A beautiful book store to browse and be charmed. The space is fresh & full of natural light, female owned, and dog friendly. Richard’s attention, thoughtfulness and assistance with my purchase was so appreciated. Great customer service!

Peter Hyland: Looking for English language books in Montreal? De Stiil should be one of your stops. Many titles, many genres, and the books are easy to pursue. There is a clear vision for what this book store should look like. Are there books on shelves? Yes, but in the center of the space are tables with books neatly arranged with plenty of space between them, so that you can easily make sense of what you are seeing. Most of the books are on the shelves lining the room. This is a book store after all. But you can find a staggeringly wide selection including books in translation. Are you looking for something that was written in Japanese, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew? They've got you covered. And those are just the languages I remember seeing a month later. I think that's less than half the total number.

Timothy “Tim” Rodrigues: A wonderful neighborhood book shop, well stocked with a good selection of both fiction and non-fiction titles. A great place to find books by contemporary writers.

Jamiey Kelly: Great selection of translated literature. Chic and bright, but a bit cavernous and sparse leading to it being a bit noisy.

Guillaume H.: Best english books library in Montreal. For one simple reason: a curated and thoughtful book selection. You can be sure all books are excellent reads.

Débora KL: Excellent !

mathilde trottier: Just finished a book recommended to me by the owner - she was incredibly sweet when I came in and directed me to something I really loved based on previous reads I enjoyed. Beautiful spot, great selection & recommendations.

Olivia: The owner was able to tell me about any book I touched in this store. She was friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be coming back!

Eva Bulas: Make sure you do not miss this place when you come to Montréal. Mon coup de coeur.

Librairie Bertrand: what do users think?

Victoria H: Very nice bookstore. Friendly staff and great choices for which books are available.

Brayden Bertrand: Got my name on the building that's pretty cool. Also it's just a solid book store with a great atmosphere.

Aanchal Somani: One of the best bookstores I’ve been to. Incredible collection of timely reads.

j hughes: Saved my...behind... at Christmas. My new favourite little bookstore.

Sofia Bufaliza: nice spot for getting local books and books in English

Senjuti: This is a cute little bookstore in the Old Port. Has a nice selection of French and English books in all genres.

tatya mia: Not to be missed! The bookstore is cozy, the books displayed here on the Christmas theme are tempting. I loved this discovery, plus the saleswoman was very nice

Anne-Marie Sapin: Good bookstore. I liked it better when they were near Parc and Prince-Arthur. It was closer to home.

Mai Anh Nguyen: A mandatory stop on each of my visits to Montreal. The selection is TOP and very beautiful works for young and old. I love picking up local children's books.

S Yeung: Cute little shop with English and French books. Great curation and friendly staff.

Miles Zarathustra: Good selection of books in French

Irma: Very complete bookstore with titles in French and English. Whatever they don't have, they will get it for you and they will also ask you for it in Spanish. My reference bookstore in Montréal!
