Le Wagon Montréal Coding Bootcamp: what do users think?

Laura Gonzalez Zuluaga: I'm a graphic designer who decided to become a developer a while ago. I already had experience in the field and I knew a bit of coding thanks to some online courses, but I felt that I was lacking a lot of structure and knowledge to get better at my job. Then I found Le Wagon and I attended a lot of their free workshops and events, just to see if they were what I was looking for, and I immediately loved the content and energy they all had. This was one of the best experiences of my life: I had the opportunity to meet great people, got to learn a lot from the TAs and other students, and I really felt that the effort and time I put on this was absolutely rewarding. I also had a great time working on our final project and felt super proud of creating a full and functional app from scratch. Thanks to Le Wagon's bootcamp I finally feel confident to work with my peers and do tasks that I never thought I would. As a side note, you don't need to have any previous experience! A lot of my classmates were working in completely different areas and we all managed pretty well. I took the part-time bootcamp since I have a full-time job, and I feel that it was perfect for me because I had the time to digest the content and put more work on the final weeks. I have already recommended it to a lot of people and I will definitely keep on doing it.

Matheus Spósito: Best bootcamp in the world!

Ricky Tran: After graduating university, I needed to learn something new and I stumbled upon Le Wagon. I was very surprised by how much we learned in the 24-week part-time program. It's definitely a commitment but the whole team and class has a great vibe and energy to support you and help you thrive.

Suraj Gopal: I have many fond and important memories from Le Wagon’s full-stack web development bootcamp: substantive lectures every morning, banter and bonding with classmates, the thrill of serving my first application on the web, and the dizzying whirlwind of project week, as my team and I pushed through an avalanche of obstacles to make our idea come to life. But, the standout memory is of 1-on-1 huddles with TAs and Stephane. All the teachers had great insight into all aspects of debugging; they helped me write comments in my code, reflect on my goal, recall syntax, read documentation, and reformat my work for maximum transparency. As I’ve continued developing on my own, these are the routines I continually return to that always help me improve my work and see myself as a professional developer. This is why anyone who wants to break into software development should attend LeWagon: you build lasting friendships and encounter real challenges, and come out of the experience with everything you need to continue growing as an engineer.

Jessica Iacovozzi: Before starting Le Wagon’s Web Development bootcamp, all I had was a high school diploma and experience in customer service. I decided it was time for a change and made the best decision in my life. The teaching style concentrates on practical exercises and the support from teachers is incredible. No need to spend 3 to 5 years in college/university. This 10-week bootcamp will prepare you with everything you need to start a career in tech.

Estuardo Joël Higueros Reyes: of fellow students made it manageable. It was a great experience to be able to learn from and work with people from different backgrounds and with different experiences. Overall, I highly recommend Le Wagon coding bootcamp.

Arstan Zholochu: After I decided to shift my career into the tech industry, I needed someplace to start where I could learn tech skills. After extensive research of university and bootcamp programs, I decided to go with Le Wagon Montreal Coding Bootcamp. What was attractive to me is that the bootcamp was planned to be on-site, face-to-face with teachers. Since I did not have any coding background, being physically present inside the classroom and having everyday interactions with teachers, and classmates were very important to me. Even though everyday coding challenges were tough, and reading and lectures were hard to grasp, I was able to learn the fundamentals of computer programming. Moreover, by the end of the bootcamp I started feeling comfortable in addressing coding challenges, finding answers to technical questions, and thinking like a programmer. There are still lots of things to learn, but thanks to Le Wagon I now have all the basic knowledge to continue my journey in the tech industry.

Winnie Zhao: and came out of it feeling as though I had the tools and knowledge to get a junior developer role. The curriculum was fast-paced but there was always support available with the TAs and teachers. The most valuable thing that I learned was how to learn

hugo mariou: has passed since the end of my training at the Le Wagon, and what can I say ... I miss it! I spent two great months in a welcoming and human environment, with people who brought me a lot. The teachers were there to give us all the necessary material to understand the web development field. The work methodology in pair programming or team project mode allowed us to develop our understanding at another level. We were helping each other, learning together. Don't get me wrong, it's a hard adventure: two months of hard work are waiting for you but for me, learning to code at Le Wagon bootcamp is the best decision I ever made in my life.I met great people, learned with good vibes, experienced the stress of turning in a group project with a deadline, felt the satisfaction of creating something with my hands.Thank you Le Wagon."

Jonathan Jenin: Le Wagon Web Development course was an awesome experience, both from a technical and interpersonal standpoint.I came from a management background, including product development and operations leadership.Following the bootcamp, I am finally able to quickly connect my past experience with my new technical capabilities, prototyping by myself and greatly increasing the impact I can have on a team. The buddy system and learning platforms are huge facilitators and motivation boosters. It is 100% a career booster, whether someone is looking for a new field to explore, or a stepping-stone in their current area, and the network you will make along the way is life-changing!

raphael cohen: 'Montreal’s Le Wagon bootcamp is an amazing experience. Everyone is welcoming, it feels like we're one big family. The team is amazing, teachers and ta’s are helpful and patient in explaining programming concepts. Seeing yourself progress throughout the bootcamp is rewarding, and the final project weeks are intense but I learned so much. At the end you have a final web application to share with the world or add to your portfolio that you built with your team. These concrete skills are essential to finding a job in the tech industry. Thank you Le Wagon.'

Benoit Leboucher: As soon as I decided to make the change, I looked for a way to make it a reality. After some research, I chose to join a bootcamp instead of doing a traditional degree. Le wagon had very good reviews and a friend of friend of mine hired someone who graduated from le wagon and was very happy with his work.I decided to join and it was an amazing experience. It was very challenging, both personally and technically but also very rewarding. I learned a lot of technical skills and programming languages, and I am still doing challenges almost 9 month after I did the bootcamp with the resources Le Wagon gave me. Finally, I learnt how to work in a team and to be efficient together.During the last 2 weeks, the “projects weeks”, we were ready to start working like real devs, from an original idea, to develop it, code it and present it. I presented it to the community and learned how to speak in public, which was not my strong suit. I’ve learnt so much from my experience at Le Wagon and am happy to continue giving back to the community.

Thomas Gellier: !

Nicholas Szczerbickyj: I joined the Data Science bootcamp to improve my knowledge in Python and learn about Machine Learning for the first time. The practical approach to learning helped me understand complex topics quickly and also apply those in the real world. Whether it was natural language processing or creating an algorithm to categorize values, after each topic, I had a firm grasp of the concepts and was able to use them with confidence. This has helped me significantly in my role as a product manager since I can both design and build data science solutions for different challenges. I would 100% recommend this bootcamp to others!

Mark: Before Le Wagon, during my time as a business student, I was curious to learn how businesses use technology to their advantage. It soon grew on me that the use of technology is a vital part of a successful business. I had decided to learn to code on my own but I soon realized I needed something more structured. That’s when I found Le Wagon, a place to learn all of the coding basics, how to solve challenges alongside others and more importantly how to think like a developer. At Le Wagon, the program is extremely well-structured to maximize learning. This is done by watching lectures before class and doing challenges which reinforce what was taught in those lectures during class. If ever we got stuck trying to solve a problem there was always a teacher to help.My primary goal at Le Wagon was to learn the fundamentals of coding as a web developer. In the end I’m glad to say my goal was achieved and furthermore I have met new friends who motivate me to excel in this career path. Ultimately, I recommend Le Wagon for anyone looking to get familiar with coding.

Kim Coquilla: I was a Shipping Coordinator for a big toy company for almost 12 years until they moved their manufacturing to Mexico. Because of this, I realized I had to change my career and saw the opportunity to start with Le Wagon Coding Bootcamp. At first, I was really nervous about if I could really do it, but after a couple of days it becomes exciting and challenging. You just have to really trust the process of their program. Teachers and staff are really nice, friendly and approachable. They also have a very well organized strategy for your learning, precise schedule, very useful resources that you will have access to even after you graduate. They also organize some educational events & bonding time like Happy Hour every Friday :beers:. To sum it up, I had a great experience with Le Wagon that I will treasure forever.

Denzel Braithwaite: I'm Denzel Braithwaite and I was part of the Montreal part time batch #790. When I graduated high school, I spent 6 years as a janitor. I started to wonder if this is what I'd be doing for the rest of my life. I decided to take a computing support course which helped me land a job in I.T. but I felt as if it was only a nudge in the right direction, but I could still go even further. I knew I still wanted to work with computers, this is my passion, but I wanted a career that was in demand, flexible and rewarding with the possibility of working remotely. I had already heard about Le Wagon from a few friends and decided to take a chance. As an alumni, I can definitely say that this course was worth every minute and every penny. It's about so much more than simply learning how to code, it's about learning how to change your life and adapt to a constantly evolving industry. It's about collaborating on meaningful and impactful projects and building lifelong connections in a very active community. I learnt how to learn and how to ask for help when I needed it. Le Wagon teaches the skills and discipline required for success, while keeping an important focus on relaxing and getting to know your fellow colleagues. I can try to describe it in many different ways, but the best way is to experience it yourself. Dive in and trust the process, know that you're in good hands from the moment you start until long after you've graduated. Le Wagon is a family, and we're all eager to meet you.

Concordia Bootcamps: what do users think?

Amir SV: The Concordia Bootcamp for Data Science exceeded my expectations. The curriculum, hands-on projects, and knowledgeable instructors created an immersive learning experience, equipping me with the practical skills and knowledge essentials for success in the field.

Jeremie Legault: Before enrolling in the Concordia Web Development Bootcamp, I had very little experience coding. I had only done about 30 hours of HTML, CSS and JavaScript combined. Starting this Bootcamp was definitely a leap of faith, but I am so glad I did it!Throughout the course, instructors were so helpful. I also learned to leverage my cohort, all of whom taught me so much. Bootcamp was REALLY hard work, but I made it through. Three months after graduating I am starting a really good job at an exciting company. One of the best parts of Concordia Bootcamp is Career Services. First I was paired with an excellent career coach and technical coach. They helped me polish up my CV, LinkedIn and technical knowledge and had encouraging words along the way. Next, Career Services offered information sessions with prospective employers, career fair and practice job interviews. It was through Career Services that I was connected with my current employer. I can't wait to start my new job!Thank you Concordia Bootcamps!

joseph melanson: If you are considering a web development course, consider no further. Do yourself the favor and enrol in DecodeMTLs we development program. The program structure, teacher, TAs and support staff can not be match in their abilities, passion and helpfulness. The structure is designed in a way that will challenge you through the entire program, while keeping its objectives within reach. As long as you push yourself and work hard you will succeed.Ziad is one of the best teachers I have had, he has the rare ability to make dry and complex material seem interesting and simple. You want to go to DecodeMTL because you want to learn from Ziad. The TAs are all very experience programers with a wealth of knowledge who are there to assit and work through problems with you, they are dedicated to helping you understand every detail of the course.Kevin is what ties the whole process together and what really makes this program complete. He will do everything he can to make sure you are prepared for the program before it begins, he will follow you throughout making sure you are comfortable in the course. But most importantly he will help you upon completion, following up with you and making sure you are doing everything you can to find a job.In 8 very short weeks I went from basic understand of programming to working as a web developer. This is an all star team, if you are serious about your goal go to Decode. But dont take my word for it, call Kevin.

Victor Wong: For any interested in making the jump to web development, DecodeMTL is the way to go. Ziad is a fantastic developer and instructor, he's very enthusiastic in his lectures. Ziad and his teaching staff make it all possible so long as you put in the time and effort!

Coco Brecht: What a great and challenging program! I would recommend it to anyone who's looking to learn a practical approach to web development and who doesn't want to spend years doing a degree in University. I was hesitant to join at first because I've never been good at math or science, but the instructors make it so easy to learn, and now I love to code!

Randy Klose: is. He is not only an amazing developer but a great instructor. He cares a lot about every student and get great satisfaction when you finally understand the material. Secondly, you will have to show your dedication in this program. Don't expect too many lecture but hands-on non-stop workshops and cool projects. We learned a lot about thinking programmatically about a problem and the multiple steps that we might take to solve this problems. And if you cant , then you can ask the also very savvy TA's that will be in the classroom to assist you and help you understand the material. The last thing that i would like to say is that they do provide you with a very complete package in which you will learn not just the latest technologies but also the significance of how this technologies came into place in the industry. In the end, what truly matter is how much effort you decide to give for obtaining these new skills.

Rachel Pariente: and TA

Alex Dankoff: Decodemtl has been an excellent source of qualified candidates for my company. We are always excited to meet each of the cohorts and feel that the course gives them the type of knowledge and skills that are required to start their careers in the web programming world. I would highly recommend decode to anyone looking to make a change in their career and who is passionate about becoming a web developer.

Maxime Martin: . The final project, structured like a mini start-up project, is very educative and provides the experience of presenting in front of a crowd of recruiters and people from the industry. The program is preparing its student for the job market, where you can expect to be hired for a web developer job just 3-6 weeks after the bootcamp. Definitely a fun and educative experience, worth the investment.

Myriam Gariépy: I loooved so much the part-time course. Our teacher Lucas was so patient and available for us. We got help from other professionals too and actually, from everyone at Decode! They were always ready to answer our questions. Most importantly, we stay in contact online with our crew and teachers using Slack, even after our 10 weeks are over. I feel I am still supported by the school while I continue to evolve through the geeky universe. 10 weeks ago, I didn't even know how to open a zip file! Now, I can make a multiple pages, responsive website with forms, links, videos, nice design, etc! The course is at high-speed though so be prepared to do your homeworks between classes! But as I said, everyone helps each others so, no worries if you get lost at some point. What can I say more? I knew nothing and I never ever felt stupid because of it. Even if you are a beginner, don't be scared and go to DecodeMtl!Oh, et les cours sont en anglais mais les profs parlent français aussi et sont toujours prêts à répéter en français si c'est pas trop clair! :D

Emma Zhai: taught at Concordia before. He is not only an professional programmer but a inspiring teacher!! I do respect his passion for teaching and coding. This special learning experience is very influential to me.2. ENVIRONMENT FOR ENTREPRENEURI am a student in Concordia and my major is more related to business. I find DecodeMTL can give me an awesome opportunity to meet different people. Many of my classmates already worked in the IT industry, having work experience in coding. It is a very impressive experience to talk and learn from them too.

Nicola Morel: Great experience. Awesome staff. Would definitely recommend the part-time class for anybody.

Aliyah Jessa: I completed this course over a month ago and am very happy with the results. I began the class with very little knowledge and after two months was able, with assistance and a team, build a web-based mobile app. The support shown through the course and after the course has been incredible. Both instructor and director and keen on us continuing our learning and achieving our post-course goals, whether that's finding work or expanding on a project, and they do what they can to facilitate that. The course is still fairly new, but kinks are being worked out and feedback is always welcomed.

Hanna Nicol: course but the instructor was great and really spends the time with individuals to make sure they're getting it.The course covers very relevant materials and prepares you to carry-on learning the necessary stuff to get job pretty quickly afterwards. If you're doing the work, you'll go far in a short time - and use your classmates too, great resources!

Karl Soulière-Crépeau: I was lucky enough to be part of the first cohort of DecodeMTL. I learned a lot, in a very relaxed environment, conducive to intellectual effort. Quality teachers with a lot of patience and generosity. I recommend.I had the chance to be part of the first cohort at DecodeMTL. I improved my coding skills like I didn't think possible in 8 weeks. Knowledgeable and patient teaching staff. I would recommend the program to anyone who wants solid foundations regarding full stack web development.

I had two teachers during my studies at Herzing, Daniel Dubreuil & Christina Weekes. The teachers were truly invested in student's education and their growth as learners. Up to date material, projects level of education and Internship have enabled me to gain confidence in job market.College is located downtown, which was also a big plus point for me as all the transportation facilities such as buses and metro are always available at walking distance. The administration is open minded and think outside the box to make Herzing College a successful educational experience for the students.
